There are so many choices for kitchen faucets these days that it can be almost overwhelming. You go to the store and see a row of drain taps.

The first thing you must do is make sure you know exactly what your budget is. Once you've decided how much you want to spend, stick with that decision. You might see lots of shiny faucets and might want to pay more than you can afford. Do not do this. You can find quality faucets that fit your price range.

The next thing to do is to decide to finish. There are many finishes on the market, and you can easily find one that complements your sink. Make sure your faucet complements not only your sink, but the rest of your kitchen. You don't want it to stick out like a sore thumb.

You may want to buy a glossy, very polished kitchen faucet. Just keep in mind that these require more cleaning. If you don't wipe it often, it is prone to water spots. So before you reach for that shiny faucet, make sure you have time to keep it fresh and span. If you have young children at home, this may not be a good idea.

Some common finishes are porcelain, stainless steel, polished chrome, polished brass, bronze, nickel, and enameled plastic.

Stainless steel and plastic kitchen faucets are probably the easiest to keep clean. Although they do give your kitchen a completely different look. Of the different finishes, the most durable is chrome.
